नई दिल्ली: दिल्ली में 1984 के सिख विरोधी दंगों से जुड़ी एक महत्वपूर्ण घटना में मंगलवार को कांग्रेस के पूर्व सांसद सज्जन कुमार को फिर से उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई गई. यह सजा दिल्ली के राउज एवेन्यू कोर्ट की विशेष जज कावेरी बावेजा द्वारा सुनाई गई, जो दंगे के दौरान दिल्ली के सरस्वती विहार में सिख बाप-बेटे की हत्या के मामले से संबंधित है. यह फैसला दोपहर 2 बजे के बाद सुनाया गया.

मामला 1 नवंबर, 1984 को दिल्ली के सरस्वती विहार इलाके का है, जब सिख बाप जसवंत सिंह और उनके बेटे तरुणदीप सिंह की हत्या कर दी गई थी. हमलावरों ने उन्हें लोहे की सरियों और लाठियों से मारा, फिर दोनों को जिंदा जला दिया. सज्जन कुमार उस वक्त बाहरी दिल्ली से सांसद थे और दंगे को भड़काने में उनका नाम सामने आया था. पीड़ित पक्ष ने उन्हें मौत की सजा देने की मांग की थी.

सज्जन कुमार की दोषसिद्धि और सजा

12 फरवरी 2025 को, सज्जन कुमार को इस मामले में दोषी ठहराया गया था. अदालत ने 21 फरवरी को सजा के मामले पर फैसला सुरक्षित रखा और अंततः 25 फरवरी को उन्हें उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई. वह इस समय एक अन्य दंगा मामले में तिहाड़ जेल में बंद हैं, जहां पहले से उन्हें उम्रकैद की सजा मिल चुकी है.

सज्जन कुमार के खिलाफ अन्य मामले

सज्जन कुमार पर अब तक तीन प्रमुख मामलों में फैसला हो चुका है:

1. पालम कॉलोनी मामला: यहां 5 सिखों की हत्या हुई थी और गुरुद्वारा जलाया गया था. इस मामले में सज्जन कुमार को दोषी ठहराया गया, और दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने 17 दिसंबर 2018 को उन्हें उम्रकैद की सजा दी.

2. सुल्तानपुरी दंगा मामला (2023): इस मामले में सज्जन कुमार को आरोपमुक्त कर दिया गया, हालांकि गवाह चाम कौर ने आरोप लगाया था कि सज्जन कुमार भीड़ को भड़का रहे थे.

3. सरस्वती विहार हत्या मामला: 1 नवंबर 1984 को जसवंत सिंह और उनके बेटे की हत्या की गई थी, जिसके लिए सज्जन कुमार को दोषी ठहराया गया. 25 फरवरी 2025 को उन्हें उम्रकैद की सजा मिली.

दिल्ली सरकार की अपील की योजना

दिल्ली सरकार ने पहले ही घोषणा की है कि वह उन आरोपियों के खिलाफ सुप्रीम कोर्ट में अपील दायर करेगी, जिन्हें सिख दंगों के मामलों में बरी किया गया है. 17 फरवरी 2025 को सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में यह जानकारी दी थी कि वह बरी आरोपियों के खिलाफ 6 मामलों में याचिका दायर करेगी.

1984 सिख विरोधी दंगे: घटनाक्रम

31 अक्टूबर 1984 को प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी की हत्या के बाद, अगले दिन 1 नवंबर को दिल्ली समेत देश भर में सिख विरोधी दंगे भड़क उठे. इन दंगों में दिल्ली में अकेले लगभग 2700 लोग मारे गए थे, और पूरे देश में मृतकों की संख्या करीब 3500 तक पहुंची थी. इसके बाद, मई 2000 में दंगों की जांच के लिए जीटी नानावटी कमीशन का गठन किया गया था.

दंगे के बाद की कानूनी कार्रवाई

2005 में, नानावटी कमीशन की सिफारिश पर सीबीआई ने मामले दर्ज किए और कोर्ट में आरोपियों को समन किया. 2013 में एक अदालत ने सज्जन कुमार को बरी कर दिया, लेकिन सीबीआई ने इस फैसले को चुनौती दी और 2018 में सज्जन कुमार को सजा सुनाई गई.&nbsp;

प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने दंगे के 21 साल बाद 2005 में संसद में खेद व्यक्त करते हुए माफी मांगी थी और कहा था कि इस घटना ने उनके सिर को शर्म से झुका दिया था.
